U15B Coach Announcement
Maddi has had a lifetime worth of athletic achievements beginning on the ice at age 3. Growing up in the Twisters system since the age of 8 up until the age of 15 and then moved to Orangeville and Barrie to round out her career. Having grown up in the system, she can relate to these athletes and their experiences. She has always been known as a leader on her team, always having that passion and drive. She thrived through the recreational levels in the beginning and then moving up into the competitive levels, always remaining as a voice in the room.

Being a double sport athlete, playing both high level hockey and provincial level soccer and eventually representing team USA abroad, she understands what it takes to be a high calibre athlete. She understands the sports/family life/school balance. Nutrition and mental health has always been close to her heart. She strives to make sure all of her athletes maintain the balance of hard work and having fun.Having to give up the sport due to injuries, she transitioned into coaching to continue her love for the game. Maddi started coaching over 11 years ago under the advisement of Cheryl Pounder and Becky Keller. She has developed a strong mentoring relationship with them to this day as well as many others in the industry.

Having learned from some of the best in the business, she has taken pieces from all of her mentors and formed her own way of coaching. Maddi has a strong coaching philosophy in that it focuses on strong player development but transitioning that into team play. We can have 17 great individuals on a team but it takes an accomplished leader to put those personalities together and have a successful team. The team doesn’t always have to win on the scoreboard, the little victories count too. Maddi believes that the rink should always be a positive place, a place that players look forward to. Developing the strong player to coach to parent relationships is key. Being a non-parent coach, she truly loves coaching and giving her insights and advice to the players.

Having a passion for development, both individually and as a team, she is always on the ice with either just a couple players focusing on individual skills or having multiple teams on the ice for a development session. In sports there is always something to work on but keeping that positive environment and that team mentality is always important.

Maddi often looks for a different voice from others especially mentors, eager to always learn more and develop new coaching strategies. She always wants her players to have a voice, and is always looking for those future coaches in the dressing room and those natural born leaders. Her coaching style will always remain as developing great individual players into a successful team in a positive environment.
