HOUSE LEAGUE
How a player gets that first taste of hockey is crucial. If the beginner has fun, developing some basic skills and building confidence, there is a good chance that player will go on to enjoy hockey for many years. But if a beginner has an unhappy, unrewarding experience, the chances are that he, or she, will quit at an early age and never discover the real joy of Canada's great game. Our house league program has an emphasis on skill development and fun in a safe environment for all of our age groups (U9-U18 and Senior). Our program provides a positive and rewarding experience for recreational hockey players of all ages and all skill levels. Come join one of our teams!
Halton Local League
The North Halton Twisters, Oakville Hornets, and Burlington Barracudas will be introducing an exciting new House League concept for the 2025-26 season – a Halton Local League!!
In this local league, U11-U18 house league teams from all three organizations will play games against each other in a regularly-scheduled loop. Games will be scheduled on weekends and played in Burlington, Oakville, and Milton. Teams will continue to practice in Georgetown or Milton as they do now.
At the end of the regular season, teams will be tiered based on their standings to ensure everyone has a chance for exciting and meaningful playoffs culminating in a championship weekend at the end of March.
This new concept will allow for greater variety in games and permit all three organizations to host strong teams that will have a great season while still keeping travel to reasonably short distances.
More details will be coming soon. We look forward to having an exciting inaugural season of the Halton Local League!
A local league is also being considered for U9 house league and more information will be shared once details are finalized.
House League Goalies
Tyke and Under 9 will not have dedicated goalies. All players will rotate playing as a goalie.
Under 11 will aim to have 2 goalies per team. Any child who wants to try playing as a goalie will have a chance in net. Under 11 will participate as a player when it is not their turn as a goalie. Under 13 and older aim to have one dedicated goalie per team. If additional goalies register, some goalies may have to share the position.
