OTF Grant
ONTARIO TRILLIUM FOUNDATION GRANT
NEWS RELEASE - APRIL 24, 2014
Milton – On Thursday evening, Ted Arnott, the MPP for Wellington-Halton Hills congratulated the members of the North Halton Girls Hockey Association (NHGHA) on their “scoring” of a three-year, $140,000 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). Mr. Arnott and Janice Moro, an OTF volunteer, presented NHGHA President Lindsay Oliver & Vice-President Al McDonald with a plaque from the Foundation to recognize their efforts in bringing quality hockey programs to girls in the North Halton area.
“I want to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generous support of girls minor hockey in our community,” said Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott.
Funds from this OTF grant will be used over the next three years to help the Association continue to grow and provide great opportunities for players of all ages. To help with this process, the Association will be hiring an Office Administrator, creating new referee training programs, enhancing its website and marketing strategies. It’s also working on an exciting Summer Hockey Development Program, as well as focusing on age-specific training materials/programs.
“We are so excited about the possibilities that this grant will open up for our girls. Investing in them is, and has always been, our number one priority and we truly appreciative the generous support offered by the OTF. We want the girls in North Halton to get as much out of their hockey experience as possible. A lot of effort went into the grant application with the ultimate goal of building our organization to compete with the best teams in the province. We are already beginning to see the success of our recent player development initiatives as both our Novice B & Atom A teams medalled at the Provincial Championships April 13th. This grant will help us continue to build on those achievements,” says Lindsay Oliver.
