Lindsay Oliver has been volunteering with the Twisters for over 19 years. She has taken on many roles within the organization, including President. Lindsay’s passion has always been coaching. In 2022, she took on the U18AA team and she’s seen success graduating many players to U22 Elite (Junior) programs. In 2023 she was nominated for BFL Canada Female Coach of the Year award and was selected in the Ontario Competitive category. She believes good teams connect off the ice first. The most skilled teams will not be great without loyalty, commitment, intensity, and energy.
Continuing to build on this success the 2023-24 U18AA team has already placed two players to the Junior level and had two second place finishes in fall showcases: Finalists in the Silver Round Stoney Creek Showcase, and Finalists in the 2 Nations Detroit College Prep Showcase.
Dana Weistra is a high-performance coach with over 25 years experience, the last 5 years as a U18AA coach. During that time, a third of her players went on to play at higher levels such as U22 Elite, U Sports, NCAA and ACHA. Dana brings a structured approach to the game, focusing on skill & system development as well as a positive coaching environment. Dana believes that a positive team culture allows players to grow together as a team, and as important, allows players to grow not only on the ice, but off ice as well.
