U13A Coaching Announcement
We are pleased to announce our U13A Head Coach for the 2024-25 season.

U13A Head Coach - Cam Johnstone
Cam, with a lifelong passion for competitive sports, began his journey on the ice in competitive hockey, transitioning from junior hockey to football at Acadia University. Over the past 16 years, Cam has honed his coaching skills with the Halton Hills Thunder boys hockey team, dedicating efforts to fostering talent and shaping champions.

Currently, Cam proudly assists the U14 AA Thunder and the U11 BB Twisters. Under Cam's assistance, the U14AA Thunder clinched the first spot in their Tri County season, securing the Tri County Championship title and making a remarkable impression at the OMHA championships.

Cam deeply values the triad relationship between coach, parents, and players in sports. His primary goal is to cultivate a love for the game among the players and facilitate their development in a dynamic, fun-filled environment. He strives to ensure the players enjoy themselves, maintaining a balance of rigorous and dedicated training. His high-tempo practices prioritize movement and improvement: if they're moving, they're advancing.

Embracing continuous learning, Cam surrounds himself with a team of coaches and support staff on the ice, always eager to absorb insights from others and incorporate them into his coaching philosophy. His coaching style, rooted in teamwork and collaboration, draws inspiration from his football playing and coaching years, emphasizing the importance of building team chemistry early in the season to triumph during the playoffs.

As a leader, collaborator, and positive role model, Cam's overarching team goal is to establish a supportive and encouraging environment where players uplift and empower each other.

U13A Assistant Coach - Kyle Helms
Kyle, with an impressive background spanning both playing and coaching, Kyle brings a wealth of experience to the ice. As a player, he showcased his talent across various levels, from Triple A-Major Novice to Midget hockey. Kyle's dedication and skill earned him three years with the Junior B Cambridge Winterhawks, where he celebrated two Sutherland Cup Championships.

Taking his passion for hockey overseas, he spent 14 years playing professional hockey in Germany, competing in the DEL, DEL2, and Oberliga leagues. This international experience not only enriched his playing career but also deepened his understanding of the game on a global scale.

Transitioning to coaching, Kyle continued to share his knowledge and passion for hockey. Serving as a Sports Academy Hockey Coach in Germany, shaping the next generation of hockey players with his expertise. Additionally, he contributed to the development of young talent as a Minor Hockey Coach for U8 teams in Germany.

Returning to Canada, Kyle continued his coaching journey with the Woodstock Junior C team, further honing his coaching skills and fostering talent at the junior level. Currently, he is making a positive impact as an Assistant Coach with the North Halton Twisters, bringing his extensive playing experience and coaching acumen to guide and inspire the team. 

With a diverse background encompassing playing at various levels and coaching both nationally and internationally, Kyle is committed to nurturing talent, fostering growth, and instilling a love for the game in every player they mentor.
