U13BB Head Coach
We are pleased to announce the U13BB Head Coach, Derek Radford for the 2024-25 season.

Throughout his career in hockey, Derek embraced the dual roles of player and mentor, and shaping not only his own path but also the journeys of those around him. From the earliest days of his playing career, he understood the importance of leadership and guidance, qualities that have defined his coaching philosophy ever since.

As a player, he thrived in the competitive world of rep-level hockey donning an A or a C on every team he played, refining his skills and pushing himself to new heights of excellence. Representing Ontario at the Men’s National Championships was a highlight of his playing days, a testament to the dedication and perseverance that fueled his journey on the ice.

Yet, it was in the realm of coaching that he found his true calling. Over the years, he's had the privilege of mentoring a diverse array of players and coaches, guiding them towards their own paths of success in the hockey world. Some have gone on to play at the highest levels, while others have found their niche behind the bench, imparting their knowledge and passion to the next generation of players.

For Derek, coaching isn't just about wins and losses; it's about instilling a love for the game and a commitment to excellence that transcends the scoreboard. Whether on the ice or off, he strives to cultivate an environment where players can thrive both as athletes and as individuals. From building fundamental skills to fostering a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship, his coaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that hockey is more than just a sport—it's a community, a way of life! Which was most recently recognized by NHGHA in honouring Derek with the Hockey Heritage Humanitarian Award.

As he continues on his coaching journey, Derek remains committed to the principles that have guided him from the beginning: integrity, perseverance, and a relentless pursuit of improvement. While the accolades and achievements are certainly gratifying, the true measure of success lies in the lives touched and the legacies he's helped shape.

In the end, it's not just about the game—it's about the people who play it and the bonds that unite us all in the pursuit of something greater than ourselves.
